The Stained Glass Artist
21x31(cm)
Oil on Yupo with Ink Monoprint Overlay. Lightbox
This is my dad. He is a storyteller, a dreamer and a stained glass artist. Nothing I can say about him can capture what a huge personality this man was. His strength of character was unwavering. His laughter contagious, I can hear it still. The hole he left when he died in 2015 is still gaping, but I feel so honored to have called him my dad, so grateful that he brought me to Greece and gave my family the gift of Poros

The Stained Glass Artist Test Piece
12,5x17,5(cm)
Ink on Yupo. Lightbox
I must have made half a dozen or so test pieces in an effort to recreate the stained glass look, but I really liked this first small piece the best of all. It really feels like my dad, something that I feel that I lost a little bit with each subsequent test. Danielle Sale helped me install lights behind the yupo paper. He made all of the custom frames for each piece, and as he finished all of the reclaimed wood he realized that the only piece that was left to do was the final oil painting of my dad, and that it would have to be done with a much nicer wood that he had at his mill. Coincidentally it was his own father's birthday that day and he was just as moved as I was

Poros Souls
30x60(cm)
Ink on Cardstock
Every year when I return to Poros, I always catch up on the cat gossip as though all these cats that have entered our lives here are just as important and valid as anyone else in our circle of friends and family. The seagulls, overall, symbolize the spirits of those who have left us but who are still here, always.

The largest fish my brother ever managed to spear was a pencilfish, so thin that the spear nearly decapitated it entirely.
